Section play in the fours will be completed with two rounds to-morrow, and post section play will be commenced on Friday. On the Caledonian green, fours skipped by a number of past champions were engaged. After a close struggle R. A. Barnsdaie’s Christchurch rink beat M. J. Squire’s Ha-/ wera four 28-25. Barnsdaie’s four

beat W. Bremner (Auckland) on Tuesday, and won their sixth game against S. C. K. Smith (North End, Invercargill) by 27-20. Bremner stopped Veitch’s winning run by 32 to 22. A match winning factor in this game was the play of M. E. Oughton, Bremner’s lead. RAIN STOPS PLAY DUNEDIN, January 20. Heavy rain • throughout the night made most of the greens unfit for play in the bowling* championships this morning, and the seventh and eighth games in the sectional division of the rinks were postponed till this afternoon. These games were to be played under special time limits, probably two and a-quarter hours, but the exact duration would be determined later according to the weather, which was changeable during the morning. The travel restrictions have necessitated a number of the North Island players engaged in the post-section play leaving earlier than they had intended, and this matter is giving tho tournament committee some concern. The committee was investigating the position to-day and will make an announcement to-night of any change in the arrangements for postsectional play.
