HOKITIKA NOTES

HOKITIKA, January 18.

At the monthly meeting of the Executive of the Hokitika and Westland Branch of the R.S.A. last evening, Mr. O. J. Hutchison (vice-presi-dent) presided over the following: Messrs J. Andrews, T. Stuart, C. Hart, R. Paterson, G. King, T. N. Mitchell, K. Wallace, P. Lloyd, W. Eastgate, W. M. Fraser and the secretary, Mr. G. Gilchrist.

Messrs Hart and Hutchison report-' ed on visits to the Hospital and Old Men’s Home, the number of returned men in each being 4 and 5 respectively r Messrs King and Fraser were appointed visitors for the following month. The secretary reported that the membership was a new total at 311. The following new members were elected: Messrs N. Karnbach, E. H. Chandler, J. Mcßride, R. Pahl, C. Biggs, D. W. Nicol, P. D. Neame and E. Bennington. Votes of thanks were passed to the donors of the Christmas hamper and to the Hokitika Hom? Guard for the donation of tables and trestles. A letter of sympathy to Mr. D. J. Evans in his illness was authorised to be sent. Renovation work in the hall was authorised. Members expressed appreciation of the work of the Hokitika Beautifying Association and a donation of £5 was made to its funds. It was also decided to make available returned soldier subsidised labour when possible. Accounts amounting to £l7 12/11 were passed for payment.
