BIG ENTRY OF FAT CATTLE

For the third week in succession there was an unusually heavy entry of fat cattle at the Addington sale, yesterday, values falling sharuly. Store lambs were in keen demand. Store sheep.—Prices were slightly better ever the whole sale than those Ox last week, the highest figure being 20/- for 451 halfbred wether lambs from Cheviot Hills. The next draft of 270 from the same source made 16/0, and 166 culls 14/4 to .14/6. Ollier good lines sold from 17/2 to 19/3. Medium lambs made from 13/6 to 16/9, and small from 8/9 to 11/-. A pen of small two-tooth ewes made 22/6, and a pen of two-tooth wethers sold for 23/-. A few pens of mixed aged ewes made from 13/6 to 18/6.

Fat lambs.—The highest price for butchers' lambs was 38/1 for seven Suffolk-cross sheep. Other prime lots made from 27/1 to 32/4. The best of the freezing lambs made to 25/-, medium irorn 19/- to 21/10, and light down to ]_7/l. Fat sheep.—Taken all round there was very little change in the prices oi the best class sheep, but lighter butchers’ sheep showed a slight decline. Extra prime, wethers, to 43/1.
