OFFICERS DISCIPLINED. WELLINGTON, January 19. A report was recently published that a * departmental investigation into certain allegations relating to import certificates had begun. It has since been ascertained that severe disciplinary action has been taken against two officers: of the Depurimeni of Supplies and that ilte investigation is still proceeding.

AUCKLAND T3US DRIVERS AUCKLAND, January 20. The threatened strike of Auckland bus drivers at the week-end has been averted, and normal operations assured, including Sunday services, as the result of a largely-attended slopwork meeting of the omnibus drivers’ section of the Drivers’ Union this morning. The meeting was addressed by executive members of the Tracies Council of the Federation of Labour.

Mr W. Ashton, Secretary of the Council, in a statement after the meeting, said the drivers had considered the whole position, and on t-io recommendation of the Council Executive had agreed to suspend action to permit the Council to re-open mgotialiens with the Government.

Mr N. B. Spencer, President of the Omnibus Operators, said his association was pleased there would bo no further inconvenience to the public. The operators were willing to meet the Union at any time, with a view to an amicable settlement of the differences.
