OPERA HOUSE: To-night, “Forever Cherished.”

“Forever Cherished,” showing at the Opera House to-night is the life story of a man whose contribution cannot be reckoned m any concrete terms. For Knute Rockne s influence on the youth of America i incalculable. His popularity travelled far beyond the limits of lootball, at which he was a past master. It was his sense of sportsmanship rather than the sport itself that fired the imagination of the people m every stratum of life. Pat O’Brien’s portrayal of Rockne is said to be the most authentic imagery ever to flash across the screen. His performance makes the audience forget that they are watching a movie. Instead they are completely enraptured by the interesting and exciting adventure of his life. Gale Page lends a touch ol tender romance to the film with her portrayal of Knute’s wife, Bonnie, George Gipp, a name almost as immortal in American sport as Rockne s own, comes to life again, as played by Ronald Reagan in his best performance to date. Donald Crisp is splendid in the role of Father Callahan, President of the Notre Dame University.

REGENT THEATRE— To-night: “The Falcon’s Brother.”

Strikingly original m theme and keyed to a high pitch of suspense, “The Falcon’s Brother,” which is showing at the Regent Theatre proves to be an outstanding addition to the successful R.K.O. “Falcon” series. Once again George Sanders plays Guy Lawrence (Jhe Falcon) debonair detective, but the olot and action veer away from previous formulas to hit new heights m bizarre situations and exciting action. The murder on board ship of a man posing as Tom Lawrence, the Falcon’s brother, and his girl accomolice, and the deliberate running down by a speeding car of the I alcon, leads Tom, aided by h clever woman reporter, to take up the uaii and discover the international terror plot behind the murders. Two other victims are added to the murder toll before the Falcon recovers in time to stage an unexpected climax to the thrill-packed film. Sanders gives his usual powerful portrayal of the cool, keen Falcon, and is ably .assisted by Tom Conway, his real life brother, who makes his initial appearance m the Falcon series. An excellent supporting cast is headed by Jane Randolph, Don Barclay and Cliff Clark.
