LEAGUE FOOTBALL

WEST COAST COMMITTEE The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby League was held last evening, Mr. J. E. Stokes presiding. Also present were Messrs J. Kidd, J. Oakley, A. Kyle, B. Ramsay, J. Anisy, and the Secretary (Mr. P. Sweetman). Mr. Stokes, as Manager of the team which retained the Northern Union Cup at Wellington, reported, on its behaviour and good football and stated that the trip had been most successful. It was decided that Blackball meet a West Coast side at Wingham Park on September 12; the selectors are to meet on Sunday evening to pick the Coast team. It was reported that the Petone Club are contemplating travelling to Blackball, about September 18. The Third Grade team which is to meet Canterbury at Christchurch, on Saturday, is to assemble at the railway station at 10 a.m. to-morrow. O’Flaherty (Blackball) replaces McBride, who is not available. Fixtures for Sunday, are:— Senior: Blackball v. Brunner, 2.30 p.m. (referee, J. Kidd); Runanga.v. Ngahere at Ngahere, 2.30 p.m. (referee, A. Kennedy). Third grade: Linwood v. Blackball at Wingham Park, 1.30 p.m. (referee, P. E. Sweetman).
