“KEEP GERMANS DISARMED”
BANKER’S WARNING
Mr. Walter Loeb, a former member of the Upper House in Germany, and an ex-president of the Thuringia State Bank, told the Liverpool Rotary Club recently that Germany was inspired with one will —a war of revenge.
If Hindenburg had been some years younger he would not have needed Hitler to make the war. He would have done it himself.
“Beware of one thing,” said Mr. Loeb. “The Germans are educated for war. War is their business. German industry can only exist with war in mind or on subsidies from the Government with war in mind. Either you must take up the task of ruling Germany, disarm her, keep her disarmed and destroy her war potential, or within a much shorter intermediary period than between the last war and this you will have to face a stronger and more unified Germany than you face now.”
