BASKETBALL ASSN.
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the West Coast Basketball Association was held last evening, when it was decided that the season be opened on May 1 with the commencement of competition matches. It was further resolved that uniforms be essential on the court. Miss M. E. Ray, who has been President for the past eight years, declined to accept nomination and was accorded a vote of thanks for her The annual report, presented by Miss Ray, stated that only 16 teams, the fewest for years, had participated in the weekly competition, this being attributable to the departure of a number of players. The fall in the number of teams had resulted in a serious decrease in revenue, of which the main source was the annual subscriptions from clubs. The state of the finances was now such that unless they improved very soon activities might have to be restricted. Disquiet also arose from lack of interest in the administrative side of the game by many senior members when they retired from playing. The asssociation had suffered a loss in the departure from the district of Miss E. Rohloff, who for many years had been its capable secretary. Her duties had been ably performed by Miss M. Tunnell. The report also recorded with regret the death of Miss C. Auld, a former representative of her province. Thanks were conveyed to the referees, the patron, Mr J. Tennent, and to Mr E. L. Kehoe, as auditor. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr J. Tennent. president, Miss R. Muir; vice-president. Miss F. Hansen; hon. secretary, Miss M. Tunnell; hon. treasurer, Mrs R. Uddstrom; hon. auditor, Mr E. L. Kehoe; delegates to West Coast Sporting Association, Misses M. E. Ray and M. I. Tunnell.
