INFANTILE PARALYSIS

FIVE CASES AT TIMARU.

TIMARU, April 6.

Five persons suffering from infantile paralysis have been admitted to the Timaru Public Hospital, three being from Temuka, one from Geraldine. and one from Otipua. All the cases have been diagnosed as positive, and all the victims are children. No cases have been reported from the borough of Timaru. FOUR IN INVERCARGILL. INVERCARGILL, April 6. Two additional cases of infantile paralysis in Invercargill, making four within two days, were diagnosed as positive at the Kew Hospital today. Both patients are girls, aged about four years, and, according to the medical superintendent, the disease is in a mild form.

Contradicting rumours to the effect that at least one further case of infantile paralysis had occurred in the past 24 hours, the Grey Hospital authorities announced this afternoon that there had been no further notifications. The condition of the three children who are patients continues to be satisfactory.
