Rev. L. G. Hanna, Methodist minister at Hokitika, who has been appointed to the Eltham Circuit, Taranaki, will leave about March 22 for the North Island.

■ A London cablegram stated that a bulletin on the health of Cardinal Hinsley, Archbishop of Westminster, says he had a very good night. The improvement in his condition is maintained. Daily bulletins will no longer be issued.

The funeral of Mrs. Sarah Michel took place, yesterday morning, at Hokitika. The services at the Anglican Church and the graveside, which were conducted by Rev. Mr. Childs, were largely attended.

The appointment of Mr. C. W. O. Brain, of Wellington, as Commissioner for the National Patriotic Fund Board, in the Pacific area, is announced. He will undertake similar duties with the New Zealand Forces to those carried out for the Board by Lieut.-Colonel Waite in the Middle East. Mr. Brain, who served with the N.Z.E.F. in the last war, is regarded as a capable organiser. He is assistant manager for New Zealand, of Burroughs Ltd., which has released him for service with the Board.— PA.
