PATRIOTIC FUND
TO-NIGHT’S APPEAL
In the course of the national radio appeal for patriotic funds this evening, West Coast figures will be announced from stations 3ZR, Greymouth, and 3YA, Christchurch, while the national totals will be broadcast from 2YA, Wellington, at about halfhourly intervals. The West Coast figures will be announced from 3ZR as (they are received, so that residents will be able to follow the donations in detail.
Aporoximately £999 is required to make up the Greymouth quota of £4,446 for patriotic funds for the current year, and radio and teleohone appeal is the principal drive being made to reach the quota. In the Westland Patriotic Fund District the telephone exchanges at Greymouth. Hokitika, Reefton, Kumara, and Ross will be open this evening for the purpose of switching telephone subscribers to the recording telephones. Telephone subscribers wishing to make donations should ring their respective telephone exchanges and ask for “patriotic.” They will then be switched to the recording telephone, where the name and address of the donor and the armount donated will be recorded. Private line owners, connected with telephone offices, who wish to make donations, will be switched to the parent exchange without charge.
