COMPENSATION COURT

TWO CASES SETTLED. Two cases set-down for hearing at the Compensation Court, before Mr. Justice O’Regan, at Greymouth, have been settled, and as three others for which fixtures had been made, will not be brought on at this sitting, the session, which was to have commenced to-day, will not open until Monday. The case of Arthur Carson, haulage worker, of Taylorville, v. Brunner Collieries, Ltd,, of Wellington, for compensation tor injury alleged to have occurred at the Wallsend mine, as a result of plaintiff being struck by a runaway truck on July 14, 1941, has been settled. The claim of Benjamin Moreton, of Denniston, against the Westport Coal Company Ltd., of Dunedin, for an injury alleged to have been caused in the Denniston mine, on .May 5, 1941, as a result of a prop falling on plaintiff’s right thumb, has also been settled.
