Mr. Justice O’Regan, Judge of the Compensation Court, and his associate. Mr. A. J. Magnussen, arrived yesterday from Christchurch.

Mr. J. P. Hughson (Mayor of Wai:ara), and Mrs. Hughson are visiting :heir daughter, Mrs. J. I. Smith, Mavheraiti.

The promotion of Group Captain Leonard Monk Isitt, R.N.Z.A.F., to the temporary rank of air commodore is announced in the Gazette published last night.— (P.A.).

Mrs. M. V. Hutchinson, Tainui Street, has received private advice that her husband. Leading Aircraftman G. Hutchinson, R.A.F.,' has been wounded as a result of enemy action.

Mr. H. G. R. Mason (Attorney-Gen-eral and Minister of Education), accompanied by Mrs. Mason, will be in Greymouth on Sunday. They will stay at Revingtons, and will leave for Hokitika and Christchurch on Monday morning.

A Gazette notice says that Captain Eustace Rotherham, R.N., has been appointed to H.M.N.Z. ship, as directed, and as Commodore (second class) for duty as Naval Officer in Charge, Auckland. Captain Cecil Aubrey Awson Mansergh, R.N., has "been lent to the Royal New Zealand Navy, and has been appointed to H.M.N.Z. ship as directed. Captain Robin Edmund Jeffreys. R.N. (retired), has been lent 'to the Royal New Zealand Navy, and has been appointed to H.M.N.Z. ship as directed.— (P.A.)
