MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

Mr. P. Blanchfleld, junr., presided over the weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby League Centre, held last evening. There were also present: Messrs. J. Kidd, J. Stokes, L. Hunter, A. Kyle, and W. P. Moore (acting-secretary). It was decided to forward a letter of sympathy to Mrs. T. Hahn, of Ahaura, mother of Corporal T. Savage, who was recently reported killed in action. Corporal Savage was a League player on the West Coast. With reference to the request received from a military camp, it was decided to invite the army team to suggest a date for a game with a West Coast team. The Seaview Club forwarded its affiliation fee. The nomination of Mr. K. O Brien, of Hokitika, as a referee, was approved. It was request the treasurer to furnish a financial statement to next week’s meeting. Mr. Blanchfleld reported that, owing to shortage of tyres, buses could not now transport teams to the playing fields. The bus proprietors were compelled, owing to the need for conserving tyres, to abandon special trips wherever possible. He suggested that every effort be made to co-operate with the transport authorities. The Marist team might, for instance, use horse-drawn transport to Wingham Park. Even if cars were available, the petrol shortage was an obstacle. It was decided to defer the allocation of grounds for two of the senior matches this week-end; also to interview all clubs, to ascertain the prospects of playing on Saturdays, when rail transport could be used. The fixtures I'M’ Sunday were arranged as follow:— Senior: Blackball y. Runanga, at Runanga, 2.45 (J. Griffen); Marist v. Brunner (J. Earl); Seaview v. Nga.tiere (grounds to be arranged for the latter fixtures). Third Grade: Blackball v. Brunner at Brunner (S. Smith); Marist v. Runanga, at Runanga (E. McGirr).
