REEFTON J.C. The Reefton Jockey Club held a special meeting on Saturday night to decide the future action of the cluo regarding racing during the war. Mr J. Discaciati (vice-president) presided, the president (Mr Auld) having resigned. The Chairman explained the purpose of the meeting, whica had been called really to give the committee a lead as to the wishes of members regarding future race meetings. , Mr James Patterson enquired regarding the financial position ol the club. This, he felt, would have a bearing on the matter. The Secretary, Mr Porter, gave, a statement as to the amount owing by the club, and us overdraft. Mr McElwee considered that Lie future of the club should be considered, and that the present financial condition of the club should not weigh with members. Mr Buist asked the cost per year if the club decided not to race for the duration of. the war. This was given at approximately £lOO. . . . . . Mr Patterson moved and Mr Bonifacio seconded, that the club express confidence in their president, ana that the other two members be asked to reconsider their resignations. The motion was carried, and Messrs Ama and C. Willis said they would take time to consider their decisions. The Secretary reported special trains would be available from Westport for the club's Winter meeting.
