MINES IN HAURAKI GULF

WARNING TO SHIPPING AUCKLAND, July 27. Three floating mines reported on Saturday to be adrift in Hauraki Gulf, between Great Barrier and Little Barrier Islands, have not yet been recovered. All shipping is advised to keep a sharp look-out for this danger, and a warning was broadcast at frequent intervals during the weekend. When the Monterey, which arrived this morning from Sydney, came down the coast in darkness, a strict watch was kept, but nothing unusual was seen. The Union Company’s steamer Waimarino, which was scheduled to sail late on Saturday night for Lyttelton and Bluff, was delayed by mines and left at 7 o’clock this morning, in order not to be in the danger ar®a during hours of darknese.—P.A. ; * '
