'S n EFFECT OF HOSPITAL LEVY. d A d An increase of .389 d in the pound o on the capital value, or a little over it one-third of a penny in the pound, is h foreshadowed in the Borough of Grey•f mouth, as a result of the greater dei’ mand made by the Grey Hospital a Board from the Borougn Council. The hospital levy has risen from Q £6803/13/9 last year to £9293/11/1, e or from 1.062 d to 1.451 d in the pound. £ This was reported at the special meet--1 ing of the Council, concluded yester- " day afternoon, to consider the esti- ® mates of receipts and expenditure for ’ the year ending March 31, 1942. Tne = Mayor (Mr. F. A. Kitchingham) pree sided, and there were also present: Crs. H. Herring, G. R. Harker, C. Neville.. J. Saunders, G. M. Truman, A. H. McKane, and P. Blanchfield, junr. } On the motion of the Mayor, sec--1 onded by Cr. McKane, the estimates Y were approved. Cr. Neville moved that the rates be struck on the basis of the valuation r for the year 1940-41. The motion was seconded by Cr. Saunders, and carried. £ The estimates are as follow: • RECEIPTS. 1 Cr.
