Mr. W. F. Tracy arrived yesterday, from Christchurch.

Mrs. W. Meldrum returned yesterday, from Christchurch.

Leading Aircraftman F. Molloy left this morning, for Wellington.

Miss M. Kirk left to-day, for Wellington, where she will reside.

Mr. P. Willis left this morning, for Rongotai, to join the Aerodrome Construction Unit.

Miss P. Gibson, Dobson, who has been seriously ill, is making good progress towards recovery.

Miss J. Kirk left this morning for Rotorua, to take up a teaching appointment.

Mr. C. A. Lowe left this morning, for Harewood, to join the Royal New Zealand Air Force, as a radio mechanic.

Messrs L. B. Greer, J. G. Mat-» thews, S. R. Gee, and R. Norton, who have been visiting the West Coast, have returned to Christchurch.

The Minister of Food (Lord Wootton) has appointed Lord Horder to be his personal adviser on the medical aspects of food problems.— 8.0.W.

Mr Richard Wilson Hawke, who represented the Kaiapoi electorate - in Parliament from 1928 to 1935. died at his home in Paoanui, on Saturday, at the age of 75 years.

The death has occurred at Wellington of Mr John O. Duff, aged 75, a native of England. He is survived by his widow and one son, Mr W. J. Duff, of Reefton, and also two daughters.

The wedding took place at the Methodist Church, Runanga, on Saturday afternoon, of Miss Iris Piner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Piner, Runanga, and Maurice Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Jones, Christchurch. Rev. A. A. Bensley officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attended by Miss Winsome Truman as bridesmaid. Mr. J. Russell was best man. The reception was held at Harker’s.
