MR. ANGUS APPOINTED CHRISTCHURCH, July 14. Mr. P. R. Angus, Locomotive Superintendent of the Railways Department, Wellington, has been appointed Chief Mechanical Engineer, and m that capacity takes .control of workshops and locomotive running branches. He will be assisted by Mr. H. W. Dallison, manager of Addington workshops, who has been appointed Workshops Superintendent, Wellington. Announcing these appointments, today. Mr. Semple said it had been decided to.re-establish the unified control of workships and locomotive running branches. For some years past, these branches had been controlled as separate units by the Superintendent of Workshops and the Locomotive Superintendent respectively, but m future, both sections would be under the control of the Chief Mechanical Engineer,'this being the organisation which obtained prior to 1931. Mr. Angus joined the department in 1910, and was appointed locomotive engineer at Greymouth in 1921. In 1924, he was transferred to the Chiel Mechanical Engineer’s office at Wei - lington, and following a brief term as locomotive engineer at Christchurch, in 1926 was appointed Assistant Chief Mechanical Engineer in November of that year. Since December 1931, he has been Locomotive Superintendent in charge of the locomotive running branch department. Mr. Dallison joined the Railways Department in 1903, commencing service at Addington workships. He was appointed workshops foreman at Invercargill in 1929. From 1930 to 1936 he hold important supervisory positions at the Hutt workshops, until taking the position of works manager at Addington, which he has occupied since October 1936—Press Assn.
