LATE MESSAGES
(Rec. 2.10 p.m.) LONDON, July 13. “The Times’s’” Stockholm correspondent says that the total of sinkings of Russo-German ships in tne Baltic, particularly by submarines, is considerable. Russian submarines are certainly active despite the German minefields and the loss of Latvian and Lithuanian bases. Some Russian surface warships are still passing between the islands and the Esthonian mainland to the Gulf of Riga, where a number of engagements are reported between destroyers, submarines and minesweepers. The Germans are at present unwilling to risk too many shins. — U.P.A. LISBON, July 13. A British twin-engined plane, believed to be commercial, crashed into the sea near Espozende, this afternoon. The machine, it is understood, was going to Lisbon from England. It is feared that all the occupants were drowned. LONDON, July 13. The Associated Press Vichy correspondent stated that General Dentz is awaiting technical counsels, before finally signing the armistice. It is insisted that these counsels are not binding, and the Government is leaving all the responsibility to General Dentz, who is empowered to make only military arrangements, and not to reach any accord regarding political aspects of the British proposals.
