“GLANASHEEN”

SUCCESS IN TOWN HALL.

The Irish musical comedy, “Glanasheen” was presented in the Greymouth Town Hall last evening, to a packed house. The production reflected considerable credit on the producer, Mr. W. Connor, and on the players, who provided an enjoyable pro-

gramme. There were 32 musical numbers in the presentation, and the majority reached a standard of excellence. All were woven into the story of “Glanasheen.”

The principal players in the comedy were Mrs. W. Connor (as Mrs. Doran), Miss Joan Walker (Eileen Doran), Bill Connor (Tom Doran), Jack Mclnroe (Mat Molloy, a County .Councillor), Paddy Blanchfield (Peter [Kerrigan, the village wiseacre), Stan (Prescott (Philip Seymour, owner of !the yacht, “Good Fortune”), Bill Ryan (Captain Birkett, of the yacht), Miss Daphne Aldridge (Molly Molloy, daughter of Mat), Miss Gladys Saunders (Mrs. Birkett, wife of Captain Birkett), Miss Gladys Foster (Pauline Everett, a friend of the Birkett’s), and Ron Dolan (Dawson, the chief steward). Bill Connor was successful in his role as the principal comedian, and he was capably assisted by Jack Mclnroe and Paddy Blanchfield. Mrs. Connor was also a favourite for her portrayabof the widow, Mi’s. Doran. The accompanists were Misses H. Petterson, L.T.C.L., M. Cawley, A.T.C.L., and M. Carroll, A.T.C.L. The orchestra was led by Miss Petterson. The scenery which evoked much favourable comment was painted by Mr. J. Rhodes. Miss Monica Sinnott arranged the dance numbers.

Aldridge and Mr. Bill Connor; song, “Where the River Shannon Flows,” Jack Mclnroe; song, “My Wild Irish Rose,” Stan Prescott and chorus. “The Minstrel Boy,” “The

Carroll thanked the performers, the audience, and all who had assisted to make the production a success. -

Prior to the performance, the Greymouth Highland Pipe Band played a number of selections.
