The Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s Christmas open and handicap tournament was concluded on Saturday afternoon, when the finals provided the crowd of about 800 with some fine exhibitions of the game. A. D. Brown won the men’s singles m yet another final with C. Angas, ana Miss T. Poole competently fought off the spirited challenge of the young Otago player, Miss M. Kerr. Results of finals in, the open events were:—Men’s Singles: A. D. Brown beat C. Angas, 6-4, 6-3. Women’s Singles: Miss T. Poole beat Miss M. Kerr, 6-2, 6-4. Men’s Doubles: H. A. Barnett ana A. R. Cant beat C. Angas and R. G. Pattinson, 1-6,’7-5, 6-2; Women’s Doubles: Mrs E. L. Hatherley and Miss T. Poole beat Mrs C. B. Beatson and Miss K. Armstrong, 4-6, 7-5, 6-I.’ Mixed Doubles: Miss Poole ana Angas beat Mrs E. L. Hatherley and A. R. Cant, 6-2, 6-2. Men’s Intermediate Singles: b. Watson beat R. J. Donkin, 6-4, 6-2.
