N.Z. CASUALTIES

THE LATEST LISTS [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, December 16. 1 The following casualties are officially announced: — Sergeant Reginald Brown, Royal New Zealand Air Force, killed on operations. His father is Mr. C. Brown, Manukau Road, Epsom, Auckland. Sapper Leslie John Entwistle, died in Egypt on December 10 as the result of an accident. His aunt is Mrs. Duncan DarrOch, Waikari. Sapper Entwistle, the eldest son of Mrs. Pugh, Christchurch, and a wellknown broadsider in the city, went to the Marist Brothers’ School and then worked for the Public Works Departement. As a broadsider he was the youngest rider to oppose the touring Americans, and he toured the North Island with Put Mossman’s team. Mrs. A. J. Canning, of Wellington, has been advised that hei’ son, Pilot Officer Charles De Vic Halkett, who was reported missing on September 9, is now known to have been killed. Pilot Officer Halkett, aged 24, was educated at Wellington College and Otago University. He was partly trained in the Royal New Zealand Air Force before leaving New Zealand in April last to undergo further instruction in England.

DUNEDIN, December 16.

Advice has been received by Squadron Leader G. L. Stedman, officer commanding the Royal New Zealand Air Force station at Taieri, that his son, Pilot Officer M. L. Stedman, is reported missing as a result of air operations on December 14. WELLINGTON, December 17. Gunner Herbert Charles Alexander, died in Egypt, December 14. Mother, B. W. Alexander, 62 Harbour View Road, Northland, Wellington. * Pilot Officer Richard Goulden Brickell, missing in air operations. Mother, R. W. Brickell, 10 Grant Street, Dunedin. Sergeant William Dudly Linter Cole, previously reported seriously ill in hospital, now reported removed from the seriously ill list. Father, H. L. Cole, 27 Everton Terrace, Kelburn, Wellington.

Pilot Officer Brickell is a former resident of Greymouth, leaving here, several years ago to join the Royal Air Force. He was formerly employed in the Engineer’s Office of the Greymouth Borough Council.
