PETROL COUPONS STOLEN
STRONGROOM UNLOCKED [per press association.] CHRISTCHURCH, December 10. Petrol coupons for a thousand gallons were stolen from the strongroom of Blackwells Motors Ltd., during the week-end. Cash amounting to £l7, from petrol sales on Saturday afternoon, was also removed. The strongroom from which the coupons and cash were stolen, is generally used by the firm for books and records, and was locked up in the usual way by an attendant after Saturday afternoon’s sales. Later, it was apparently opened with a key, and locked after removal of its contents. The stolen petrol coupons were being held by the firm for subsequent transfer to the Oil Fuel efiithorities. They have no identification or cancellation marks, and are eligible for further petrol purchases during the remainder of December.
