■ Mr E. J. Go’dso and Miss Godso left, this morning, for Christchurch. Mr. J. A. McPhee left, to-day, on a visit to Wanganui and Auckland. Miss D. Stribling returned'yesterday, from Christchurch. . Sergeant Pilot D. Scott, formerly of Greymouth, has arrived in England. -- Constable W. T. Roughan returned yesterday, from Dunedin. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Simon, Christchurch, arrived yesterday, on a visit to.their son, Mr. R. Simon, Cobden. Mr. T. O’Farrell, of the Government Life Insurance Department/ Greymouth,. left to-day, on transfer to Wellington. A cablegram from Washington stated that Mr. Wesley Frost the new consul-general in New Zealand, is leaving for Auckland aboard the Monterey on January 7.
Mr. H. E. Sumner, of Paroa, a mem-r ber of the operating staff of the Tele’graph Department, Greymouth, has' joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force as a wireless operator, and will commence duty at Wigram next Mon- . day. Mr M. Forman, of the Hokitika . Magistrate’s Court staff, has received notice of his transfer to Christchurch. Mr Forman has been at Hokitika four and three-quarter years, and previously was stationed at Westport and. Greymouth.
Mr. P. Sweeney, manager of the Railway Road Services at Hari Hari, hhs been transferred to Greymouth, to take charge of the services in this district. Mr. Sweeney has been connected with motor transport in South Westland for 18 years. Recent guests at Lake Brunner Hotel, Mitchells include:—Sir Harry Batterbee, Lady Batterbee, Miss O. Downes, Mr. J.
