HOKITIKA v. GREYMOUTH A match for the Reynolds Badges between Hokitika and Greymouth, was played on the former’s club’s green on Saturday. The weather conditions were ideal and the green was in good order. Mr. King welcomed the visitors, Mr. Denton responding. [Hokitika won the match by 123 points to 104, the scores being as follow (Hokitika first mentioned): — Stevenson 14, Newton 18; Fleming 25, Sharp (senr.) 19; Bain „10, Sharp (Junr.) 23; Spiers 22, Chisholm 12; Gilligan 30, Whibley 20; King 22, Macauley 12. Colts: Havill 21, Bruerton 16. DOMINION TOURNAMENT l Record entries as far as the South Island is concerned, and which have only once been exceeded in Dominion bowling, have been received for the New Zealand bowling championships which will start in Christchurch on January 8. A total of 856 entries has been received, compared with 640 at the last championships in Christchurch in 1936, and 726 for the Centennial championships in Wellington last January. The total of 856 has only once before been bettered, and that was in 1939, when the entries for the championships at Auckland totalled exactly 1000.
