HURRICANE OFF CANADA [BY CABLE—PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] MONTREAL, September 17. A bad hurricane hit Halifax, in Nova Scotia, which is cut off from communication with the rest of Canada. The surface winds had a speed of 70 miles an hour. (Recd. Sept. 18, 1.30 p.m.). HALIFAX, September 17. A storm has caused widespread damage to Canada’s maritime pro-* vinces, ruined a quarter of Nova Scotia’s apple crop, and blacked out a number of towns, by disrupting the power-lines. The storm is abating.
