GERMANY AND SPAIN. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] BERLIN, September 17. Senor Suner has arrived here, heading a mission of Spanish military, political, and economic experts. KING VISITS ADMIRALTY LONDON, September 17. The King to-day drove from Buckingham Palace to the Admiralty while the afternoon air raid warning was in progress. He was met by the First Lord of the Admiralty (Mr. A. V. Alexander.) and Admiral Sir Dudley Pound. The King visited the war room, where he saw plans, charts, and' maps showing the disposition of the naval forces, and discussed the general naval position with the staff. Later he visited the War Office. : ■ • INDIA CONGRESS. BOMBAY, September 17. The All India Congress Committee has overwhelmingly ratified the Executive’s resolution in favour of non-co-operation in the war. (Recd. September 18, 10.55 a.m.) BOMBAY, September 17. The All India Congress Committee, by 192 votes to seven, re-elected Mr Gandhi as leader. INCOME TAX PAYMENTS. RUGBY, September 17. In connection with the scheme under which many firms and individuals have been paying income tax in advance, to aid in financing the war effort, the Halifax Building Society sent in a cheque for a million pounds, for the amount of income tax liable. The tax is not normally payable until January 1, 1941.
BELGIAN GOVERNMENT RUGBY, September 17. The Belgian Government, according to German sources, has been officially dissolved at Vichy. M. Vleeschauwer (Minister of the Colonies) and M. Glutt (Minister of Finance), however, are now in London, thus ensuring the existence of' the Belgian Government, with full powers. Belgian circles in London state that those Ministers who are unable to join M. Vleeschauwer and M. Glutt have transferred to' them their duties and functions, and this arrangement will enable the Government to continue its activities to the full extent required by the interest and circumstance of the country.
