Fairmaid (Borough En-< gineer) left Greymouth yesterday for Nelson, owing to the death of Mrs Fairmaid’s father, Mr R. Drummond. Mrs Fairmaid was already visiting Nelson. Mr Charles E. Richardson died suddenly in his Wellington office on Monday. He was 71.-years old. He was the. third son of the Hon. Edward Richardson, C.M.G., M.L.C., a Londoner who became well known in New Zealand as a contractor for important railway works and later as a politician. Hon. Edward Richardson’s firm constructed the LytteltonChristchurch railway, including the Moorhouse tunnel. Messrs. G. D. Fogarty, W. Rea, T. Harker, and J. Kane, members of the Celtic Football Club, who will enter military camp with the Fourth Reinforcements, were entertained at a dinner and social by the club on Monday evening, and were presented with suitable gifts. The presentations were made by the president, Mr. J. D. Cullen, who expressed appreciation of the services the four members had given the club, and wished them every success, and a safe return.
