COAL STRIKE.

SYDNEY, April 16.

It was announced, on behalf of the combined mining unions, that if the Federal Government or the Federal Arbitration Court convened a compulsory conference to settle the coal strike, the combined mining unions would attend. No indication, however, was given as to whether the unions themselves would apply to the Court.

MUNITIONS MANUFACTURE.

CANBERRA, April 16

The Minister for Supply (Sir Frederick Stewart) said that an order for shells and other munitions, valued at about £3,000,000, placed last November by Britain with the Commonwealth Government, has already been altiiost fulfilled.
