Mr. and Mrs. G. Batty will return on Thursday, from Wellington. Miss J. Murphy left to-day, for Auckland, where she will resides Mr. R. Moffat left this morning, for Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. D. Robin left this morning, for Christchurch. , Mr. W. Hopkins was a passenger by to-day’s express to Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Mclnroe left today, on return to Wellington. Mr. G. R. Harker left last evening, for Christchurch. Miss M. Batty left last evening, for Christchurch. Mrs. A. C. Turtill left this morning, on return to Hamilton. Mrs. J. Living, High Street, is a patient in Oranui Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Callery left today for Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Withell left this afternoon, for Christchurch, where they will reside. Mr. A. J. Baker, Assistant Engineer-in-Chief, Public Works Department, who has been visiting the West Coast, left to-day, on return to Wellington. Mr. C. R. Cox, Public Trust Office, Greymouth, has received notice of 'transfer to Hawera. The date of his departure has not yet been announced. Mr. M. J. Lynch, Public Trust office, Whangarei, arrived yesterday, on transfer to Greymouth, replacing Mr. J. J. Byrne, who left on Saturday, on transfer to Whangarei. A London cablegram reported the death of Mrs. Alec Tweedie, aged 78 years. She recently presented the Australian and New Zealand Governments with a number of her 600 paintings of scenes of world-wide travel.

Mr. W. N. Pharazyn, of Wellington, secretary of the New Zealand Clerical Employees’ Association and the New' Zealand Journalists’ Association, will arrive, this afternoon, on a visit to Greymouth.

The wedding was solemnised at St. Matthews’ Church, St. Albans, Christchurch, on Saturday, of Marjorie Rowena, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Mayo, of Greymouth, and John, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Pattinson, of Runanga. Rev. W. E. D. Davies officiated. Miss Altie Mitchell, of Greymouth, was bridesmaid and Mr. R. G. Pattinson, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The reception was held at the residence of the bride’s aunt, Mrs. W. H. Stephenson, Warrington Street, Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. J. Pattinson will reside at Greymouth.

The death occurred at Greymouth, last evening, following a long illness, of Mr. Malcolm Frank Washer. A native of Hamilton, deceased joined the Railways Department in 1897 and served for 27 years at Greymouth as a guard, and on retiring three years ago, through failing health, he was goods foreman on the wharf. He was a member of the Oddfellows’ Lodge, and a foundation member of the Cobden Bowling Club. He is survived by his wife, one son, Royden (Greymouth) and four daughters, Mrs. K. Speak (Ashburton), Misses Neva (Christchurch), Audrey and’ Errol Washer (Cobden). He also leaves five sisters and four brothers. The funeral will take place to-morrow afternoon, at Karoro Cemtery.
