A New York cablegram stated that Mr. Kennedy, American Ambassador, is preparing to return to London. Mr H. J. Howes, yard foreman. Bright Street, Cobden, yesterday afternoon, of Mr. James Howat. ■ A native of Dreghorn, Ayrshire, Scotland, aged 60 years, deceased came to New Zealand 13 years ago and had since resided in the Grey district. He was employed at the Dobson mine until eight months ago, when he took ill. Besides his wife, he leaves one son, Stewart, of Cobden, also three sisters and a brother in Scotland. The funeral will take place to-morrow atternc’on, leaving the residence at 2 o’clock, for Karoro Cemetery.
