SURPLUS PROFITS ALLOCATED

WELLINGTON, December 9

The customary Christmas allocations of surplus profits. of the £ 5000 alluvial gold art unions to various organisations ’in the Dominion doing philanthropic and kindred work were announced to-day by the.. Minister for Internal Affairs (Mr. Parry). The sum involved is £12,325, and the bodies which will benefit operate in different parts of the Dominion.

The largest individual grants made are £lOOO each to the New Zealand Crippled Children Society and to the Order of St. "John for branches and subsidiary organisations for relief purposes. The other grants range from £3OO down, to £5O. '

Among the grants are the following: Now Zealand Crippled Children Society, £1000; St. Vincent de Paul Society,' Superior Council £300; New Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing, Auckland £2OO, Wellington £lOO, Christchurch £lOO, Dunedin £100; Society for the Protection of Women and Children, Auckland £250, Wellington £lOO, Christchurch £lOO, Dunedin £100; National Committee, Apostleship of the Sea, £250; Lyttelton Waterside Workers’ Hospital Comforts Fund, £5O; National Council of Women, Christchurch (comforts for patients in Mental Hospital), £5O; Christchurch Deaf Club, £5O; British Sailors’ Society. Lyttelton, £100; Choiinondeley Children’s Home, Christchurch, £100; Nazareth House, Sydenham, £150; Home of the Good Shepherd,' Christchurch, £150;. Commandery in New Zealand Order of St. John —for branches and subsidiary organisations for relief purposes, £1000; St. Joseph’s Boys’ Home', Christchurch, £l5O.
