GERMAN DOCTORS
N.S.W. BAN CRITICISED. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] SYDNEY. December 7. A large section of the Press is severely critical of the New South Wales Government’s attitude in barring Ger-man-born immigrant doctors from practising here. The B.M.A. influenced the Government in the matter. The “Sydney Morning Herald,” in an editorial, declares: “The British Medical Association has done the medical profession a grave dis-service by its overzealous attempt to conserve its sectional interests.” It adds: “There is a touch of Pecksniffery in an attitude which debars German-born refugee doctors from practising here. Because of the war, these refugees are fleeing from the very persecution which this country is fighting to overthrow.” The editorial urges the Cabinet to revoke its decision.
