RUGBY FOOTBALL
STAR CLUB’S BANQUET The annual banquet of, the Star Football Club was held last evening at the Municipal Band Hall. Mr. A. White presiding over a good attendance of members, supporters and visitors. Members stood in .silence as a mark of respect to their late member, Mr. W. Deere.
The toast list was as follows: Loyal toast, proposed by the chairman; “Star Club” (Mr. W. Carse—A. White, B. Stuart, and N. Rothwell); “W.C.R.U.” (Mr. W. Williams—Mr. T. Mclntosh); “Sister Clubs” (Mr. G. Nelson —Messrs. Pearson. McEnaney, Price and Parker); “Kindred Sports” (Mr. J. Mclnroe—Messrs. G. Nelson, B. Foster, P. Brown, C. Crowe. P. Betts, J. Leitch, D. Hoggarth); “The Ch.am.pion. Club, Cobden” (Mr. T- MeIntosh—Mr. T. Kiely); “The Ladies” (Mr. J. Leitch —Messrs. H. Kirk and P. Betts); “Musicians” (Mr. H. Quinn— Messrs. W. Williams, J. Johnston. B. Stuart. L. Martyn and G. Nelson) : “The Press” (Mr. N. RothwellMr.'J. Mclnroe); “The Chairman” (Mr. H. Brown). The chairman made presentations to Messrs. B. Stuart, L. Wilson and E. Fell in honour of their recent marriages. Mr. W. Williams presided at the piano, and Messrs. Stuart. G. Nelson. J. Leitch. P. Betts. C. Crowe. G. Mitchell. Henderson, and Parker also contributed -items.
