WOMAN SENTENCED
ESPIONAGE IN SWITZERLAND.

(Received November 3, noon). GENEVA, November 2. Madame Virginia Rota was sentenced to five years’, imprisonment and ten years’ loss of civil rights.
Madame Rota was accused of trying to cross the Swiss frontier with drawings of Swiss anti-aircraft guns and other secrets. Roger Joel, a munitions factory draughtsman, was alleged to have admitted giving documents to Madame Rota.
MANY ARRESTS REPORTED
LONDON, November 2.
The Berne correspondent of “The Times” states that more than 50 spies have been arrested in Switzerland. They were mostly working /against foreign Powers. The police possess 25,000 records of potential suspects living in Switzerland.
