MINERS’ GRIEVANCES

MACDONALD MINE HELD UP

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

HAMILTON, October 31

As a protest against the rough state of the road leading to the Macdonald mine, the men this morning refused to start work until repairs to the road were undertaken.

The decision not to start work, which affects about 200 men, arose out of an accident at the mine yesterday, when a trucker, William Moyes, 32, suffered a fractured leg when caught between some skids while at work. The accident occurred at 1.30 p.m., and the man was not admitted to hospital till 6 p.m., as the ambulance was unable to negotiate the road to the mine, which is about a mile long.
