“BLACK-OUT” ACCIDENTS
MANY DEATHS IN BRITAIN [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. Oct. 19, 12.50 p.m.). LONDON, October 18. Captain Evan Wallace, in the Commons, said that deaths by road accidents in Britain, last month, numbered 1,130, compared with 554 in September of last year. The Government views the increase with deep concern. Experiments have been made, with a view to mitigating the difficulties resulting from the lack of street lighting, but, so far, it is impossible to devise a means of relaxing the restrictions, and at the same time conceal objectives from aircraft.
