COBDEN NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] There was a good attendance in York Hall, last evening, when the Cobden Company of the Girl Guides celebrated their ninth birthday. Captain A. Gilmore was in charge, assisted by Lieut. I. Moore. The three patrols of the company had each arranged a display—one of sporting gear; one of sewing and needlework, and one of native flora. Each display was creditable to the guides concerned and evoked much interest. During the evening, games and guide plays interested those present, while the enrolling of 14 new members was a special feature. During the evening Mrs. L. Schaef (District Commissioner) inspected the exhibits. Later the guides entertained those present at supper, when a birthday cake was cut and distributed.
