FISH FOR BRITAIN

SUPPLIES FROM ICELAND. [BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] (Recd. October 18, 10.20 a.m.) RUGBY, October 17. In order to meet a probable reduction in the supplies of British-caught fish, caused by the Admiralty demands on fishing vessels, numbers of which are being armed and used to counter the German attacks on merchant shipping, a comprehensive plan has been devised for augmenting the supplies of frozen fish from Iceland. The fish are caught in northern waters, and filleted, graded, and frozen on the Iceland coast. The plan envisages a great expansion in the supplies of frozen fish from Norway, Canada, and Newfoundland. This plan, which the sponsors claim will ensure sufficient fish for the whole British demand, has been submitted to the Government Food Department.
