CEREAL RETURNS
APPEAL TO FARMERS. [per press association.] WELLINGTON. October 17. An appeal to farmers to send m their returns of plantings of cei ea.. 3 was made to-day by the Minister tor Supply (Mr. Sullivan). He said that the Government was anxious to learn how much land had been planted this year in wheat, oats, and barley, as it would be a great help in planning wartime requirements. . _ _ “The Government. Statistician recently posted cards to growers of grain' throughout the Dominion, Hie Minister said. “Farmers were asnecl to fill in on them the areas they had planted or intended to plant tor Lie 1939-10 season, and return them. There are still many cards outstanding, and farmers who have not done so can I help the country by filling l hem in and posting them at once."
