AHCAR REFUSES TO MARRA” LONDON. August 23. AVJien Miss Madge. Ashwell, of Big gleswade, and Mr. Stanley Martin, o; Sandy, approached the vicar of Big gleswade, the Rev. S. B. Farbridge. with a request to marry them, he refused. Both had admitted in answci to his questions that they had not been baptised. The vicar has declined to comment on the legal position. "That does not enter into it, so far 'as 1 am concerned,” he said. “The Bishop of St. Albans, Dr. Furse, has instructed his clergy that if either or both parties are unbaptised, the marriage ought not to bo solemnised in church.” The wedding' will take place on Sept. 1G at Biggleswade Methodist Church.
