MOTOR COLLISION
MARRIED WOMAN KILLED. [FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, October 15. A married woman was killed and five other persons were injured, three seriously, when a stationary car was struck by another car on the Main South road near Norwood, a few miles south of the Burnham Military Camp, about 8 o’clock this evening. Those involved were: Mrs. Johnston, of Dunsandel, wife of R. H. Johnston. She died on the way to hospital. Mrs Margaret Thompson, of 372 Wainoni Road. Head injuries. John Thompson, her son, aged four years. Head injuries; condition not serious. Mrs. Violet Cummins, of 90 Somerfield Street. Plead injuries. Barry Cummins, her son, aged four years. Head injuries; condition not serious. R. H. Johriston, of Dunsandel. Head injuries. .Tames Thompson, a builder, and George Cummins, a train examiner, husbands of the injured women, were not hurt. It appears that Johnston and his wife were travelling south and their car struck the other car containing the Thompson and Cummins families. The latter car was said to have been jacked up and Thompson and Cummins, who were on the road, were carrying out repairs when the accident happened.
