KARL RADEK AGAIN
ORGANISING POLISH BOLSHEVIKS I am now able to lift the veil on the mystery of Karl Radek, says a “Daily Telegraph” correspondent. He has been busy in Moscow since last March “organising” Polish Bolsheviks for the very situation which has now developed in unfortunate Poland. Karl Radek, who was born in Congress (former Russian) Poland, was the outstanding journalist produced by the Bolshevik revolution. He was “purged” in January, 1937. but suprisingly escaped the death penalty, being sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment. Radek, in Ills evidence at his trial, pleaded guilty to what the Soviet Government regarded as the most heinous of crimes —planning a deal with Nazi Germany and Japan. Radek admitted telling a German diplomat that, realist politicisan in the U.S.S.R. understood the significance of a German-Soviet reapprochement, and were prepared to make the necessary concessions. Nothing has been heard of Radek since the trial. It is typical of Bolshevik methods to make use of his exceptional ability to aid in the destruction of Poland. While editor of “Hzvestia.” Radek never tired of attacking the Pilsudski regime in Poland.
