LOCAL BILLS APPROVED. [PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. September The Legislative Council met at 2-30 p.m. and passed the Land Transfer Amendment Bill, the Christchurch City Empowering Bill, the New Plymouth Borough Land Exchange and Empowering Bill, the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Bill, the Nelson Harbour Board Empowering Amendment Bill, the Papanui Memorial Hall Enabling Bill, and the Bluff Borough Empowering Bill. In the case of the Christchurch Tramway District Amendment Bill the Local Bills Committee recommended that the bill be allowed to proceed, although the standing orders had not been complied with in relation to the number of days from , the commencement of the season until the bill was introduced.. Mr Carrington urged that the council adhere to the attitude adopted on the question last session, when the Government’s attention was drawn to breaches of the standing orders in this respect, and all local authorities were directed to conform to the requirements in future. The Council decided, on the voices, to allow the bill to proceed. The Council adjourned at 0.50 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday next.
