SURVEY FLIGHTS TO SUVA. ( PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, August 24. . It is intended to carry out an air survey of the route between Auckland and Suva (Fiji) early in September. This announcement vzas made to-day by the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation (Mr. Jones), who said that the first of two proposed flights to Suva would be undertaken by thb modified Empire flying-boat Aotearoa between September 7 and September 10. “This will be the first of two survey flights to Suva,” the Minister said., “and of course there will also be a number of survey flights to Sydney from Auckland. .The flights to Suva will have the effect not only of providing information about the route itself, blit will also enable valuable data to be obtained concerning the landing of fly-ing-boats at Suva.” CALIFORNIAN CLIPPER AUCKLAND, August 25. The Californian Clipper, bound from San Francisco to Auckland, left Honolulu, the first stop at 3.35 a.m. to-day (New Zealand time), according to advice received by the company’s radio station at Auckland. The Clipper is expected to reach the New Canton. Island base at 4.40 p.m. (New Zealand time).
