ASSAULT ON BABY
FATHER FOR SENTENCE. [PER press association.] ASHBURTON, August 25. Arthur Norton Sim, 22, of Hinds, was committed for sentence, after pleading guilty to a charge of having assaulted Norton James Sim, his 11-weeks-old baby, so as to cause hirn actual bodily harm. .Accused was married last May, and resettled remarks about his married life and the baby. On August 2, accused, after having drink, took hold of the baby's head, while in its cot, and stuffed one finger in its mouth. Accused said that he did not intend to kill the baby, but endeavoured to Injure it. so that it might become ill and die.
