GREYMOUTH YACHT CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Greymouth Yacht Club was held last evening, in the Club’s pavilion. The Commodore, Mr. E. W. Smith presided over an attendance of 37 members. In moving the adoption of the annual report (previously published in the “Star”), the chairman referred to the sound position of the club financially and commended the general and social committees on their strenuous voluntary efforts to further the club’s progress. The statement of receipts and expenditure showed a small drop on the previous year’s balance but the money was expended on club assets. Actual running expenses left a credit balance of £4/1/7. Assets were conservatively valued at £352 with a depreciation fund of £2O and no liabilities. The election of Mr. J. G. Walton as the club’s first life member was carried amid applause. Blacktopp. On the motion of the Chairman, it was decided to obtain the approval of the Harbour Board to have the hole in front of the pavilion be filled in to provide a resting place for yachts. After discussion it was decided to bring the club into line with its objects and with all similar clubs in the Dominion, the name to be Greymouth Yacht Club. A motion to change the form of handicapping to the automatic form provoked much discussion and on being put to the meeting was lost, the handicappers being left to handicap as usual. The incoming committee were recommended to go into ways and means of providing more locker space in the pavilion, owing to the increase in the Club fleet. Votes of thanks were passed to the 'Press for publication of reports.
