BOWLING
GREYMOUTH CLUB'S MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Greymouth Bowling Club there were present:—Messrs. F. H. Denton (chairman), A. E. Kilgour, J. S. Robertson, T. Crankshaw, D. F. Mursell, F. Congreve, and A. Hughes (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs L. Mercer and T. A. W. Tate. Motions of sympathy were passed with the Walker and Bendall families in their bereavements. Resignations were accepted with regret from Messrs. J. Greengrass, C. N. Page, and H. McCorkindale. Accounts amounting to £l7/4/1 were passed for payment. It was decided that the two-life system bo again adopted in all competitions; and also that the senior and junior championships be again conducted. A recommendation from the annual general meeting, that the entry fee for progressive pairs be reduced from 2/to 1/-, was rejected, it being resolved that the fee remain at 2/-. The question of lighting; the top green for night competitions -was held over for further consideration . The following committees were appointed:—Selection: Messrs. Mercer, Whibley and Moss; Ground: Messrs. Tate, Robertson and Kilgour; Draw: Messrs. Crankshaw, Congreve and Mursell; Competitions: Messrs. Mercer, Kilgour* and Robertson; Refreshments: Messrs. Mursell and Crankshaw; Club Reporter: Mr. Mursell. Members were elected as follow: — Messrs. L. A. Bendall, ■ C. W. Browne, C. Blumsky. W. Dove, H. Grooby, F. Guy, W. P. Hambleton, C. V. Hughes, N. H. Inch, G. G. M. Mitchell, W. Morris, J. M- Macauley, D. A. McLean, J. Newton, J. H. North, and C. H. Withell. It was decided that the season be officially opened on Saturday, September 39, provided the Grounds Committee’s recommendation is favourable.
