Mrs. L. Rennie will leave to-mor-row, on return to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. D. King arrived yesterday, from Wellington.

Lord Halifax (Secretary for Foreign Affairs) has appointed Sir Orme Sargent, Assistant Under-Secretary in the Foreign Office, to be Deputy-Under-Secretary, succeeding Sir Lancelot Oliphant.—Official Wireless.

Mr. F. Wylde, Runanga, President of the West Coast South African Veterans’ Association, will leave this evening, to attend a conference of veterans to be held at Christchurch to-morrow.

Passengers by Cook Strait Airways West Coast service to-day were: Miss F Hay-McKenzie, Mrs. P. Keating. Master McKendry (Westport-Grey-inouth); Mr. Justice .Callan, Messrs W. Cecil Prime, A. L. Monteith, and H. Rutland (Greymouth-Nelson).

The funeral of Miss Hanora Creagh, of Brunner, took place at Karoro Cemetery yesterday. Requiem Mass was celebrated, at St. Patrick’s Church by Rev. Father Gregory. The graveside service was conducted by Very Rev. Father Long, assisted by Rev. Father Kelly.

An Official Wireless message stated that the King has approved the appointment of Mr. Ronald lan Campbell, Minister at Paris, to he Minister at Belgrade. He is not related to Sir Ronald Campbell, formerly British Minister at Belgrade and now British Ambassador in Paris.

The death occurred at Christchurch last night of Miss Helen Meikle. Deceased was involved •in an accident some months ago, being struck by a car, and she had been in the Grey Hospital until Monday last, when she was removed to Lewisham Hospital, Christchurch. She was a native of Lyttelton, and had been a resident oi Greymouth for some years. She is survived by two sisters, (in Christchurch), and three brothers.
